Blog v Wiki
To compare and contrast Blogs v Wiki they both are important because nowadays students and teachers easily can communicate through wikis and blogs. However, blogs are different than wikis. To compare Blogs v Wikis, Blogs are more dedicated for opinion sharing, while wiki for information and notes. Wikis are mostly used by professors and students, to post exam topics, some important information and lecture notes. Wikis are very easy to use and they help students to prepare for exams and tests. However, two people cannot make changes at the same time on wikis, while blogs are great to comment other people's posts and articles. Also, blogs don't help students to study or prepare for the exams. since there is not a spell checks on blogs. It is basically for opinion sharing and commenting other people's blogs. "For all types of business, collaboration is really important. But for those who are turning blogs into businesses – ‘blogpreneurs’, if you like – there are few who have succeeded without clever collaboration with other companies and brands." (virgin.com) When a business releases a new product – whether that be a new clothing line, hotel or tour – they will sometimes turn to bloggers and influencers over traditional advertising to help promote it. This means that leading bloggers are now getting the opportunity to be associated with new and exciting products. Moreover, as it mentions in one of the wikipedia's pages "Wikipedia is not a democracy, and its editors may face numerous restrictions on freedom of speech, including various types of sanctions. Certain images have also been blacklisted from Wikipedia, since they have been deemed potentially offensive. Editors can be indefinitely blocked from Wikipedia if their usernames do not conform to Wikipedia's username policy." (Wikipedia) It is true that some of the information posted by editors are restricted. I think in order to maintain wiki's reputation and make users to use wikipedia, there should be a freedom of speech where users will be able to edit and add any information they want. Wiki also needs to improve quality articles from nonsense information. There should be some form of programming that could check and improve wiki's articles and posts.
